GERMAICAN RECORDS launches GERMAICA, the first all digital Dancehall label in the world!

First release of the GERMAICA DIGITAL imprint will be the „Opium“ Riddim. Hardcore to the bone and with a strong HipHop flavour the „Opium“ carries heavyweight tunes just by some of the finest Artistes of the genre. First up is the „Original Warlord“ BOUNTY KILLER definitely with his strongest effort in a while. „Bad Man A Roll“ is the first recording of the „Poor People Governor“ for PIONEAR. GERMAICA recording Artiste ILL INSPECTA on „1.000 Bullit“ comes with a fierce delivery and a killer hook to prove his status as the biggest hardore DeeJay right in Europe right now. Another Jamaican legend - COBRA - shows with „Rude Bwoy Thing Is Not A Game“ - his already third tune for the Leipzig based label - why he’s called one of the all time favourite Jamaican DeeJays. Late Danish SingJay sensation NATASJA who delivered THE international club hit 2007/2008 with „Calabria“ is lyrically destroying all vampires in the business who exploit the Artistes. „Sucky Sucky“ is one of the only few posthumous songs available from the badly missed super talent. The second GERMAICA recording Artiste RONNY TRETTMANN is giving us yet another of his boom tunes which made him skyrock to fame in the German speaking parts of Europe last year. He’s back! ...but still he’s never been gone! No Dancehall artiste performin in German language did have so many hits in such a short period of time like he did: „Kaffee“, „Deutsches Patwa“, „Der Sommer ist für alle da!, „Was läuft hier falsch?“, „Bizziniz“, „Glover“, „Gretchen“, „Unser Fahrer“, „Amerikkka“, „Feierabend", „Regentropfen“ and „Hand Ab!“ - all of them whithin 18 Months! Nobody of the genre has so much style, coolness and originality - nobody so many clicks on „myspace“ – „iSpace“ as he calls it.

Until now almost only known for his One-Drop-Anthems the DeeJay from Saxony opens the Dancehall chapter of his career indicated already by his Top3 German Reggae tune of the last year „Hand Ab!“ talking about the topic of chemical pollution of Marihuana which came to prominence in his Hometown Leipzig with 9 people being hospitalized for lead-poisoning late last year.... Trettmann is clearing the clubs with realness and invites ladies and fans to dance with him and creates the long overdue authentic „Deutscher Dancehall“! „New Jersey“ is the first single from his second Mix-CD-Album to be released in early summer 2008.

Once again "German Patwa" DeeJay RONNY TRETTMANN did it..., He is featured in the online edition of Germany's flag ship magazine "SPIEGEL" (the "german TIME mag") - with a dubplate!. In the pre-release version of the tune "HAND AB!" for Leipzig's No.1 soundsystem UPLIFTMENT INT'L he's talking about the problem of polluted Marihuana - a topic that came to prominence lately in Germany (currently 19 people are hospitalized in TRETTMANNs hometown Leipzig with lead poisoning due to the consume of intoxicated weed).

Japan Update

Just released on the GERMAICAN RECORDS JAPAN imprint is a 45 by Japanese group "Shou Ren Tai". The first single off their album is called "Ningen Gokaku" and was recorded on Junior Blenders krazy "Kaffee" riddim which also features Ill Inspecta's "Long Distance Call" and Ronny Trettmann's "Kaffee". According to our sources Junior Blender will be releasing his debut riddim very soon...

Ill Inspecta is the only European artiste featured on the brand new South Rakkas CD "Remakes - Come Again" a compilation of re-recordings of Dancehall hits with the likes of Mr. Vegas, Alozade, Jigsy King, Beenie Man, Cécile and Germaica Booking Artiste Lexie Lee. Inspecta does an interpretation of Shabba Ranks' infamous "Trailer Load"...

Pionear receives gold and platinum award for Seeed production

Berlin - Last friday was Bling Bling time for Germany's most succesful Reggae group ever, Seeed. Amongst the people honoured for contributions to "Next" the groups Platinum album and "Ding" their gold single was Germaican producer Pionear.

Pionear has been supporting the band from scratch with 45 releases through Germaican Records and productions in Jamaica.

In addition, the download single holds the top spot of the Reggae segment in the german portals of Musicload and AOL. This not only comes by surprise but also neglects the common status quo, that a tune can't do well without a video in Germany!

Poland Catch The Fire!

What a start for Germaican Records Polska: “Konstytucje 2006” - first single of the forthcoming album “Polski Ogien” is the “Highest Climber” of this week’s official Polish Airplay Charts and debuted at the No.18 spot!
The tune is a remake of the legendary 1986 anti-government song “Konstytucje” - originally performed by cult New Wave singer Lech Janerka from Wroclaw/Breslau.
Today 20 years after it’s original release “Konstytucje” is more than up to date - bearing in mind the outcome of the last Polish general & presidential elections in autumn last year, which put in power an ultra-right government with twin-brothers Lech and Jaroslaw Kaczynski, becoming the president and the leader of the ruling party respectively.
Performed by Polish star Sidney Polak and new blood Junior Stress as well as Lech Janerka himself it is one more boom tune on Pionear’s Money Bag riddim currently stirring up every Dancehall from Gdansk to Cieszyn and Zgorzelec to Warszawa!

Polski Ogien Tour

On Friday Pionear and Germaican recording artiste Ill Inspecta will embark on a tour of Poland to promote the "Money Bag" riddim as well as the album "Polski Ogien" (Polish Fire) distributed by Warner Music Poland. The tour will kick off with a special guest performance at the "Polish Soundclash 2006" in Poznan and unites all "Polski Ogien" artistes on one stage at the official release party at Warsaw's CDQ club on Saturday!

The Polish Fire Is Ignited!

Almost a year ago GERMAICAN RECORDS, Europe's premium Dancehall label & TAM TAM RECORDS, Poland's well trusted Reggae promoter and distributor, decided to join forces and start a project which would represent Polish Reggae and Dancehall vocalists on both classic and unknown riddims taken from the music vaults of PIONEAR and his fellow producers PETE FOX of SEEED, TOM, BASSRUNNER and STEREOTYP.

At the very beginning the idea was more of a "let's-see-what-happens" kind, but as soon as the demos started flowing in, it became obvious that something unique was to happen... And when it came to the recordings, the talent and abilities of Polish vocalists had exceeded the expectations of everybody involved by far, including the Artistes themselves!

While selecting the tunes for the album one riddim prooved to be particularly popular with the Artistes and clearly indicated it's hit potential...

This way it was decided that the album will be preceded by the MONEY BAG riddim! Played by PIONEAR and the original FAR EAST BAND keyboard player MATSCHER, this Ol’ Skool one-drop instrumental was voiced by some of the most promising Polish DeeJays and Singers namely RAS LUTA, GRIZZLEE (both of the EAST WEST ROCKERS), JUNIOR STRESS (of LOVE SEN-C MUSIC) and SILESIAN SOUND - as well as GERMAICAN recording Artiste ILL INSPECTA to add some "international" flavour... MONEY BAG will be the first Polish riddim to be released in the classic single format and will surely mark the next step in the development of the Polish Reggae scene...

The release of the three MONEY BAG 45s is set for April 2006. The full length Album "Polski Ogien" will hit the streets in May!

New 45 Distributor For Germaican Records International!

The 2nd staging of the annual "Riddim Clash" in Munich last night saw a controversial battle between Freddie Krueger (JA), One Love Hi-Powa (I), Ricky Trooper (JA) and Supersonic (D). At 4:15 a.m. (EST) German DeeJay veteran Dr. Ring-Ding, who hosted the event, declared Supersonic the winner.

Yesterday saw the grand opening of the German division of the download shop iTunes.
Featured amongst the opening offers is an exclusive pre-release of Seeed's refix of Sizzla's "Show The Interest" (originally on the succesful Cure riddim).

LinkUp! 2004 Festival!

Last Saturday (May, 15th) saw the biggest Reggae indoor show ever in Germaica's "capital" Leipzig, when a crowd of 2.400 celebrated "5 Years Germaican Records". The "Link Up! 2004" festival was a unique assembly of the Who is Who in german Reggae:
Gentleman & The Far East Band, Dr. Ring-Ding, the Germaican Scout 2004 project (feat. Bobby Buster and Ill Inspecta) and a string of soundsystems headed by the German Top 5: Pow Pow, Sound Quake, Sentinel, Supersonic and Kingstone.

Germaican says thank you to all the fans and supporters, the artistes and sounds!

Germaican Jubilee Year 2004!

Several anniversaries gonna be celebrated within the next 11 months.

First in May Messer Banzani the pionearing Reggae force out of Leipzig/Germany celebrates its 15th birthday with the original Messer Banzani founders Pionear and Tom teaming up again for an exclusive Reunion Riddim to be released in November 2004!

September then brings the 5th anniversary of both, Germaican Records and germaica.net, to be celebrated with special releases and events.

Last but definitely not least it's gonna be 10 years on December 17th, when Buju Banton's "Murderer" on the "Far East" Riddim first blasted out of some speakers marking the beginning of the Dancehall era in Germaica's capital Leipzig with the birth of the Far East Sound breeding ground for Germany's top notch backing band The Far East Band.

Tanya Stephens, the influential and soulful reggae dancehall artist, has inked a deal with VP Records to release her album "Gangsta Blues". It is scheduled for release in the spring of 2004. The album includes the hit track “It’s A Pity” from the widely popular Reggae Gold 2003 compilation. It will also feature the acoustic anthem “What a Day,” with a surprise collaboration on the guitar based “This is Love.” (source: VP Records)

Last night (Oct, 2nd 2003) more than 600 patrons witnessed the "Universal Clash" at U-Club in Wuppertal/Germany.
The fair competition between recent "Riddim Clash" winner Killamanjaro and Rodigan who played his first clash in Germany ever boiled down to a controversial "dub fi dub" when the british played DeeJay tunes to take home the trophy.

Gentleman and Leipzig/Germany based backing band Far East appeared on "TV TOTAL" (a late nite show on national TV here in Germany) last night (Sept, 17th 2003) to promote their recently released Live CD/DVD wich debuted at the no. 15 spot on the German charts.

Saturday night Munich/Bavaria saw the biggest clash ever in Germany. More than 1.200 people witnessed a stiff competition between Black Kat (JA), Downbeat (US), Sentinel (GER) and the winner Killamanjaro (JA).
The clash was promoted by German Reggae/Dancehall-Mag "Riddim".

Jamaican top notch vocal group TOK, currently locking the local dancehalls with their first Germaican single "Shining Star", Red Rat, alongside Berlin's own Supersonic Sound and Barney Millah plus Kingstone Sound, who also staged the show, shared the bill at Cologne's "Essigfabrik", where a good capacity crowd celebrated the start of the European tour of the dancehall acts. 22 shows gonna be played in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Norway and Austria.
After Red Rat and TOK, who were backed by Richard "Shams" Browne's "303 Band", delivered their sets they were joined on stage by international Reggae superstar Shaggy who was in Cologne the same night to be featured in a TV show called "TV Total" of german station "Pro 7" with host Stefan Raab.

Saturday night Gentleman won 1 of the highly acclaimed music awards "Echo 2003" for the category "Hip Hop/Black Music National".
After Berlin based band Seeed last year it's the second time that a Reggae artiste is winning this trophy in Germany (comparable with the U.S. Grammy and the U.K. Brit Awards).
